Each year Scenic elevate their itineraries to capture the best experiences for their guests, including favourites from the previous season based on guest feedback along with the introduction of new attractions. With the release of their Australian small group touring program for the 2021 season comes a range of such experiences.
Read on for a selection of new highlights you can enjoy when you travel Australia with Scenic.
Scenic have introduced a new journey to their collection, showcasing the Kimberley and the Top End. This small group tour travels from Darwin to Broome through remarkable wilderness, uncovering ancient stories and spellbinding moments along the way. Guests will explore Kakadu National Park and the impressive Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge, watch the scenery unfold along the famed Gibb River Road, and visit El Questro Wilderness Park.
Among a raft of noteworthy encounters, an absolute highlight of this Mystical Kimberley tour is the experiences guests will have of Purnululu National Park. Guests will fly directly into this area of natural wonder, taking in the spectacular sight of the domes of the Bungle Bungles from the air. These black and orange striped formations are over 300 million years old and are sure to amaze, both from above and on the ground.
Scenic guests will also enjoy a special stay in the heart of Purnululu National Park, relaxing in the Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge enveloped by nature. Walking tours in the park include the incredible Cathedral Gorge, and for the perfect end to the day, look to the vast night sky (perfect for stargazing!).
Guests travelling South Australia with Scenic will now enjoy a visit to the biodynamic Gemtree Wines in McLaren Vale. Featured on the Gems of South Australia itinerary (formerly the Tastes of South Australia), this Scenic Enrich activity comes complete with a tasting including locally sourced snacks.
Scenic guests will enjoy an interactive experience guided by the winemakers themselves and learn about the biodynamic viticulture that makes Gemtree Wines so special. These wines are made from grapes that are organically and sustainably grown and farmed, earning the winemakers the recognition of the Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices award in 2019.
This Scenic Enrich experience is coupled with a day exploring the Barossa Valley, making this journey a great choice for wine lovers. Foodies will also appreciate the tantalising stalls of the Adelaide Central Markets and an epicurean exploration of Kangaroo Island showcasing the local produce. Kangaroo Island is also a highlight for nature lovers who will soak up the beauty and intrigue of the landscape here during a three night stay. There's something for every traveller.
The new Kalbarri Skywalk opened in June 2020 and is a worthy addition to Scenic’s Western Australian itineraries. Nestled in Kalbarri National Park in Western Australia, the Skywalk boasts two cantilevered viewing platforms extending 25 and 17 metres respectively beyond the rim of Murchison Gorge.
The platforms have been designed to be easily accessible for everyone, making this spectacular scenery available to all visitors. Take some time to soak it all in as you look out over the impressive bushland and cliffs rippling with rusted red hues, as well as the river meandering through the landscape 100 metres below. Visitors will also appreciate the artwork by the local Indigenous Nanda people incorporated into the Skywalk design.
Scenic guests travelling on the Treasures of the West Coast and the West Coast Discovery itineraries will be lucky enough to enjoy the view from the platforms. Places on these popular itineraries have already been snapped up for 2021, however, there are still limited places remaining on Scenic’s Pilbara, Broome & Monkey Mia journey also visiting the Kalbarri Skywalk (but get in quick so you don’t miss out!).
Guests travelling with Scenic on the Ultimate Tasmania journey in the 2021 season will enjoy refreshed city stays in Launceston and Hobart. This includes a stay in Launceston's new, innovative hotel, Peppers Silo Launceston.
This unique property is built around four large grain silos dating back to the 1960’s and the historic building has been modernised with a fresh accommodation offering.
