Love the wonderful outdoors & weirdly hip cities? Looking for a USA trip that has the best of both worlds? Topdeck has you covered with their Pacific Northwest trip. From sea kayaking in Seattle and chasing waterfalls in leafy Portland to zip-lining in Whistler.
There is a heap of opportunities to experience the incredible scenery throughout this awesome trip and all that adventuring is going to have you working up an appetite - lucky the food & drink in these parts is as tasty as the scenery.
Here are a few things Topdeck recommend checking out in each stop.
In Vancouver, hire a bike and cruise through Stanley Park, along the water’s edge, you might even see some dolphins or sea lions if you're lucky. Go for a hike in Lynn Canyon just out of town and cross one of the epic suspension bridges through the forest.
Portland's BrewCycle offers a pedal to pub experience which is a whole heap of fun, taking in some key sights & brews course. Baerlic, Ecliptic & Upright all offer some unique beers. On the food front, Portland has plethora of options, one of Topdeck’s faves though is "Ate-Oh-Ate" a little authentic Hawaiian joint in Woodstock, or if you're looking for a late night snack after a few brews there's the ever quirky ROXYs Diner - the only 24-hour diner in town.
Seattle's MoPOP(Museum of Pop Culture) is just a few minutes from the Space Needle and with exhibitions featuring local music icons Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix, it's definitely worth a visit. Sticking with the art scene, you could also visit the Gum Wall near Pike Place Market to add your touch to the masterpiece (of gum).
When you're up in Whistler it is a must to take the peak 2 peak Gondola up top for some epic views, or try some bob sledding if you're game. Otherwise enjoy the fresh mountain air and check out some wildlife.
