From Malaysia to Thailand, Le Lapérouse invites you on a nine-day cruise featuring heavenly islands, exceptional natural heritage and cultural discoveries where Asian, Indian and European influences mingle to make your Christmas unforgettable.

Throughout your journey, you will benefit from an excursion included per person per port of call, to choose from a selection offered by PONANT. On this cruise, discover the Habitat Penang Hill nature park and admire fascinating plant...read more and wildlife; appreciate the richness of Laman Padi when you call at Langkawi Island to see rice plantations and visit a Buddhist temple; and explore the historic city of Malacca, now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The diversity of experiences on offer promises you intense and varied moments (to discover the full range of excursions, go to the itinerary tab).

Your cruise will start in Malacca City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where spices and silk were once traded. Then, in Port Klang, enjoy the captivating blend of Art Deco and Oriental architecture of the emblematic Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque. Discover the colourful and multicultural island of Penang, known for its British colonial buildings, its Chinese shops and its mosques. The ship will head southward to Langkawi Island, where you will discover scenery including picturesque rice fields and hills covered in rainforest. Spend some time relaxing on an idyllic beach, go snorkelling to admire the marine environment or take a swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Your cruise will continue along the coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. On Christmas Day, in a sublime setting of emerald water, karstic cliffs, mangrove and white sand, Le Lapérouse will also drop anchor off the coast of the uninhabited island of Ko Rok Nok, a paradise for swimming and relaxation. Nearby Ko Kradan is a concentration of superb white sandy beaches, coral reefs and tropical vegetation over less than 3 square kilometres (1.1 square miles). Finally, you will cross the Strait of Malacca, once a strategic hub of the spice and silk trade, to arrive in Singapore, your port of arrival.

Nicknamed the Garden City, Singapore stretches across Malaysia's southern-most region. Experience the vibrant hustle and bustle of this city-state for yourself at the Marina Bay. No too far away is the historic centre, offering up a unique smorgasbord of neoclassical buildings and contemporary towers. Decked out in topiary, the pavements of Orchard Road are also home to countless shopping centres. The colourful markets in Chinatown and Little India are the perfect opportunity to quell hunger pangs in a hawker centre, one of the city's traditional snack bars. Between the two districts, get a slice of history with a trip to the Raffles dock. It was here that Englishman Sir Raffles, the founder of the city, is said to have arrived one fateful day in January 1819.

Malacca is steeped in history and is celebrated for its multicultural heritage and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This historic city was a prominent trading port in the 15th century, attracting traders from around the world, which has influenced its unique architectural and cultural tapestry. Landmarks like the red-stucco Dutch Stadthuys and the ancient Porta de Santiago fort testify to its colonial past under Portuguese, Dutch, and British rule.

Visitors can explore the vibrant Jonker Street, famous for its weekend night markets that offer an array of antiques, crafts, and street food that reflect the city's Chinese, Malay, Indian, and European influences. The tranquil Malacca River that winds through the city provides a scenic route for river cruises, offering a peaceful perspective on this historic city.

One of the best holidays we have ever done Expensive, yes but you get what you pay for in the end This was 6* cruising at its best. The daily and at times twice daily zodiac excursions were special and led by well informed guides all of whom had professional qualifications in a relevant field.

Food was of the highest standard an the open bar well ...read more stocked to meet all tastes. Don't worry too much about formal gear, a sports coat and a colourful dress are all that is required on the two gala nights. On the other nights, slacks and polo are fine.

We helicoptered to Mitchell Falls which again was expensive but well worth it. Forget about the Horizontal Falls boat ride. Those that went were very dissatisfied as the most exciting of the two Falls is now closed due to a boating accident. I've seen more challenging wave sets in Moreton Bay. Overall 11/10 from us and very highly recommended
