Do I have to share a room as a solo female traveller?
No, in fact with some operators that's not an option. You can choose to have your own room, or you can share with another female friend (twin share) on all the women-only trips we offer. Addtionally, on Intrepid's Women-Only Expeditions you can also choose 'Solo Share' where Intrepid will match you with another female and you'll pay the same rate as twin-share. Pricing is shown on our website for all three scenarios - if all three are available.
How many single occupancy rooms are available?
Due to the small size of our women only tour groups, there will be plenty of single-occupancy rooms available. The only exception is Insight's Splendours of Egypt Women-Only tour, where cabins are limited on the Nile cruise.
How are these women only trips different from all the other tours you offer?
What sets them apart is cultural, not geographical. In traditionally male-dominated countries, or places where women are not viewed as equal, certain traditions and customs can make genuine cultural interaction difficult. We see these trips as an exciting opportunity for female travellers to go behind closed doors and learn about the customs, challenges and everyday lives of women across the globe.
What age group are women-only tours designed for?
Women-only tours generally attract a mix of ages, from younger solo adventurers to more experienced travellers. The shared interest in meaningful travel, cultural connection and exploring with confidence often creates a welcoming group dynamic across different age groups.
Are women-only tours led by female guides?
Many women-only tours are led by female tour leaders or include experiences hosted by local women, depending on the operator and destination. This can add another layer of insight to the journey, offering a more personal perspective on local culture, daily life and women’s experiences in the places you visit.
