Itinerary

Welcome to Halifax! Upon arrival enjoy some time at leisure to relax or explore on your own. Your Tour Director is on hand late this afternoon to answer any questions.

Depart Halifax for Hopewell Rocks located along the shores of the Bay of Fundy, home of the highest tides in the world, which rise and fall up to 52 feet. Visit Fundy National Park before travelling to Saint John for a two-night stay.

Travel south and take an orientation tour of the charming seaside resort of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea. Explore historic Main Street with its quaint shops or take an optional whale-watching and wildlife cruise.

See the Reversing Falls, a natural tidal phenomenon, before leaving Saint John and driving across 8-mile-long Confederation Bridge, the world's longest trans-ocean bridge, to Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island. Tonight is at leisure. Perhaps join our optional excursion to enjoy a traditional lobster supper at a local restaurant.

Tour the island with a Local Guide, seeing the sandy beaches and wind-swept dunes at Prince Edward Island National Park, stopping at the seaside port of North Rustico to learn about its famous fishing industry and visiting Green Gables Heritage Place, setting for the Anne of Green Gables novels. Afternoon is at leisure.

Board a ferry and cross Northumberland Strait for Nova Scotia. Arrive in Baddeck, Gateway to the Cabot Trail, on the shores of the Bras d'Or Lake. Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site to see exhibits tracing the great achievements of the inventor of the telephone.

Journey on the world-famous Cabot Trail, a spectacular scenic highway with panoramic views of rugged cliffs, deep valleys, forested slopes, and the North Atlantic and Gulf of St. Lawrence. Enter Cape Breton Highlands National Park, with landscapes resembling Scottish coastal regions. Visit Cheticamp, a small French Acadian fishing village, on your return to Baddeck.

Depart for Halifax and take a city tour with a Local Guide. Highlights include the Public Gardens, Canadian Forces Base, the country's largest military base and home of the Royal Canadian Navy Atlantic Fleet, and Fairview Lawn Cemetery, final resting place for over one hundred victims of the Titanic. Remainder of the day is at leisure.

Start the day with a visit to picturesque Peggy's Cove with its historic lighthouse, the most photographed in Canada. Then stop at Acadian Maple Products and learn about the history and production of pure Nova Scotia maple syrup. Continue to Lunenberg, one of only two urban communities in North America designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy the colourful streetscapes of this charming harbour town. Visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic to learn about the rich and diverse fishing heritage and coastal way of life.

Your holiday ends this morning. You may choose to extend your holiday in Halifax with extra nights to explore further.
