Ultimate Cambodian Adventure     0 , QLD, Australia, Jan 2025
Had travelled with G Adventures in Cambodia before (river cruise to HCM City) and enjoyed it. This trip had good and not so good features. Note, I travelled solo, on a room share basis. Angkor Wat was really worth the return visit as we got to go up to the top level as it was no so crowded as when I was there in Jan 2020. The tour gives you a real feel ...read more for the countryside as opposed to just seeing Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The country towns (except Kratie, which we didn't see any of) were really interesting, each with its features. It was nice to visit businesses with a community emphasis eg silk farm and restaurant as part of the tour and the La Plantation pepper farm (by tuk tuk).

It is worth spending a few extra days in Phnom Penh as there are quite a few places to see that are not included on the tour. Koh Rong island is a good place to relax with a nice beach (very clean, warm shallow water) and a lovely walk to the next village. Food options on the island were very good. Hotel there was very basic for the price (price on booking site 2-3 times the other hotels we stayed in). Our G Adventures CEO was pleasant and helpful with good English. He took us on a tour of his childhood home and small village, showing us the local rice wine factory, etc

That said there are a few downsides to the tour. I chose this trip over Intrepid as it had more free time. However, optional tours took up almost all the free time (total cost about US$250) and there was pressure to do these by both the CEO and other participants. Hotels in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, whilst good, were poorly located (about 2km from city centres). I didn't mind the walk but was not comfortable doing it after about 7pm alone. This was a pity in Siem Reap as the city comes alive at night (in PP it was not such an issue as I had extra days there in a more centrally located hotel). Also, the hotel in Siem Reap was not the one listed in the final itinerary and CEO said it had not been used for sometime (it is still on their itinerary on the website). Hotel in PP was surrounded by motor bike repair places and CEO said there were no recommended eating places nearby (so group had to get tuk tuks into riverside area).

Hotels in other locations were basic but adequate, except Kratie. Tour went to Kratie to see the endangered dolphins. We did this on motorised boats, which simply meant chasing the poor things around making a lot of noise (only 2-4 people per boat) and risking injuring then with the small propellers. This was all we did in Kratie as hotel was on edge of town and it was after a long day's travel. Hotel was really basic as was the food provided (many had cold meals that should have been hot, even though we had to order in advance).

Single supplement is about the same as paying as you go for a separate room (should be half that). Booking with Global Journeys is always easy and this trip was no exception. Tracey even went to the effort of providing the address and contact numbers for the hotels, as GAdventures did not. I would I go with G Adventures again - only to a country I was not confident getting around by myself. If you are a couple you could probably hire a car with driver and stay in better hotels for the price of this tour.
Laos: Sunrises & Street Food   0 , VIC, Australia, Jan 2025
The tour was a great way to see Laos quickly. I especially loved the homestay night on the slow boat and wish that we could have spent more time with the community. Nak was an amazing CEO who helped us all in any way he could and created a welcoming, warm and lively environment.

A Taste of Vietnam   0 , Auckland, New Zealand, Dec 2024
This was a well organised trip through Vietnam from Hanoi in the north to Ho Chi Minh city in the south. Our guide was very enthusiastic, the tour inclusions very interesting and great additional options - for example, our culinary tour in Hanoi introduced us to the different tastes of Vietnam. We had a motorcycle tour in Hue that took us out of our ...read more comfort zone but was well worth doing. We have travelled previously with G Adventures and would do so again. We especially like that the company supports disadvantaged or handicapped individuals in the country we visit.
Japan, you've gotta go!!!   0 , New Zealand, Sep 2024
We are a family of three, with a 14yr old daughter. We completed a 9 night tour in Japan with G Adventures , booked through Gobal Journeys. Our agent has been very responsive to my email queries. There was a issue with the sleeping arrangement, but with a great response the issue was resolved to my satisfaction. The tour had a friendly, enthusiastic ...read more and very helpful Japanese guide
Out group of 15 for on well, we were varied ages, my daughter was also well engaged with the group. Accommodation was comfortable and varied with size of rooms and comfort of the bed, all expected after researching Japanese Accommodation.
I would definitely recommend this tour for those interested in seeing Japan, but without the stress of being from A to B.
Exploring Mexico   0 , TAS, Australia, Sep 2024
I absolutely loved my time in Mexico! G Adventures was amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone. My tour guide was so informative and made sure everyone had an amazing time. A high light of my trip was going on a party boat in Lake Bacalar and also visiting Chichen Itza as we learnt so much about the history.
Portugal in Depth   0 , QLD, Australia, Sep 2024
A comprehensive tour with a very knowledgeable guide in Pedro. The whole itinerary was enjoyable. Whilst so many, the cathedrals and castles were stunning and scenery breathtaking. A highlight for me was Porto - it has been my screensaver for several years! A trip not for the faint hearted with cobbled tile pavements and at times challenging steps into ...read more buildings. Accommodation in Lisbon at the Hilton felt like a prison, stark black corridors on each floor with room numbers impressed into the carpet at the door. Globus we arrived early and you offered transfers airport to city for A$80 pp each way! The airport was less than 10 kms away and organized transport could be booked for A$40 a car each way - not nice. The group of over 40 was a good one - everyone mixed and proved good company. (GJ. Organised transfers offered by the operator will always be more expensive than local transport options which is why, if tour clients are confident travellers, we recommend catching an Uber or taxis in most cases. However, some clients prefer the safety and knowledge that everything is pre-planned and pre-paid before they arrive.)
Spectacular Alaska with Alaska Cruise   0 , Victoria, Australia, Sep 2024
Land portion of the trip was awesome as were our guide Wade and our driver Maurice. The cruise part was also great and we were treated exceptionally well.
Touring Around Alaska by coach and cruising from Whittier to Vancouver   0 , Victoria, Australia, Sep 2024
Firstly the coach tour was sensational with many thanks to our exceptional tour guide Wade and our coach driver Maurice. Wade provided a great insight into Alaska past and present and was very knowledgable and very well organised as well as being a friend. Maurice's driving kept everyone so calm and he to had the coach very clean and was always there ...read more for us if we needed and answer or guidance. The places we saw visited and the things we saw were truly amazing and Wade's suggestion to fly by light plane around Mt Denali was one highlight for us as were the Glaciers, wildlife, accommodation and people. The boat cruise with Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam was relatively smooth sailing and everything was catered for onboard. The towns and places we visited were interesting including the glaciers again and the wildlife, scenery, entertainment, food, drinks.
An Amazing Holiday     0 , VIC, Australia, Jul 2024
It was an enjoyable, interesting and a hectic tour. We enjoyed very minute of it and look forward to joining Globus again soon. Julian our tour director was an wonderful guy from Madrid, he was very helpful along with all the other local guides. Mohammad, local guide in Morocco gave us a lot of inside information on the culture, history, how the ...read more country operates etc. but he was a kickback king, wherever he took us, he made sure he was rewarded.

We enjoyed all the places we visited, specially Rick's cafe in Casablanca. Fez and Tangier was my favorite cities. The venue and the evening show was enjoyable, although I was looking forward to Moroccan cuisines but in general they were very bland. The seafood meals that we had in Lisbon and Costa de Sol were excellent. The optional dinners and shows we saw just average compared to the cost, except in Fez. You need a lot of patience to put up with Moroccan Music. We made up for it by some lovely music in Portugal and Spain, especially when our Tour Director sang and danced along with us. The Farewell dinner in Madrid was memorable, but the dinner was average.
Our Long Awaited Alaska Trip Did Not Disappoint     0 , Christchurch, New Zealand, Jul 2024
Globus truly gave us The Spectacular Alaska Experience. Our tour director, Todd and driver, were friendly and accommodating. Both were knowledgeable providing information and history on the areas as we traveled in the motor coach. The accommodations were comfortable, and it was good having on site dining options, as on some evenings we got to our rooms ...read more quite late. Not that you realised as it was still light through to 11pm at least! The arranged excursions were all great and gave us the experiences we were after.

Our viewing of wildlife was not as frequent as we had hoped. It is just luck being in the right place at the right time. We did see Moose, Caribou, sealions and sea otters. (Take your binoculars). Our highlight was on the last day on a cruise into the Kenai Fjord where we witnessed a group of humpback whales bubble feeding on a shoal of fish. Truly amazing. If considering this tour, or any trip to Alaska, their sunny days are rare with most days cloudy and/or wet. This can mean the mountains are not visible at times and you need more warmer clothes than true summer ones.
A superb part of France     0 , SA, Australia, Jun 2024
The highlights of the tour included Mont St Michel, the magnificent Loire valley castles of Chenonceau and Chambord, Monet's garden, although very crowded, the farewell Seine river cruise dinner, the Normandy landing beaches and Versailles. Globus provided high level accommodation, and I would like to travel with them again in 2025. The tour missed ...read more out on extreme weather, and even though we were there in late June, did not wear shorts on any day. However, most venues were crowded.
