This tour lived up to expectations and more! A group of 27 plus our tour leader. The group mixed easily and was very well coordinated by our English tour leader, Ivan, who was a mine of information. Whilst it covered the 3 main rail journeys, Bernina Express, Glacier Express and up to the Jungfrau - there would have been about 12 train connections/trips in all - each a picturesque experience. There was enough time for own exploring as well the planned tour. Highlights - walking tours around towns we stayed in, visit to Neuschwanstein Castle, so many picture postcard scenes, a personal visit to the delightful village of Grindelwald near the Eiger on return from Jungfrau (via the cog railway), snowflakes falling at St Moritz!
The Ultimate Italy tour was a fabulous 14 days spent with a great group and led by a charismatic and knowledgeable CEO, Silvia. The itinerary - from Rome to Venice - was spaced well with at least 2 nights spent in each accommodation. As is noted, you need to carry your own luggage so backpacks proved preferable over having to carry suitcases. Would definitely consider another G Adventure trip, and will use Global Journeys again.
Would not recommend this to anyone who has difficulty walking. Some hotels are quite a distance from the train stations and some days we were travelling on quite a few different trains so you have to change platforms or change to buses. So accomodation was very small. Lots of free time also. Recommend the optional excursion to medieval castle.
Cosmos Scenic Switzerland by Train is a great way to see all the best that Switzerland has to offer in a short time. Everything is taken care of and their host guide was both informative and knowledgeable. You'll travel 1st class on all the train journeys and the overnight accommodation hotels are all within 15 minutes walk from the train stations. ...read more The optional excursions were excellent and I highly recommend doing these. Overall a fantastic trip in all respects.
