Itinerary

Jambo, Kenya!

Welcome to Nairobi, gateway to your dream safari. Hotel rooms are available for mid-afternoon check-in.

Conservation Matters

Guided sightseeing starts with a morning game drive in Nairobi National Park. Continue to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to learn about and witness elephant conservation in action. After lunch, visit the Karen Blixen Museum, dedicated to the Danish baroness and author of the 1937 autobiography Out of Africa (later, an Academy Award winning film) illustrating her time living and operating a coffee farm in Kenya. A visit to the Giraffe Centre is, followed by free time this evening. (B/L)

LOCAL FAVOURITE - WILDLIFE WARRIORS: The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, founded by Dame Daphne Sheldrick. Learn about elephant conservation and meet elephant calves, orphaned by poachers, before they are re-introduced to the wild. View the elephant calves from a distance during their feeding time. Also visit the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi-a non-profit organization operated by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, focused on saving the Rothschild giraffe. During a visit to this remarkable sanctuary, learn about this giraffe sub-species, meet them up close and feed them. Get closer to these regal beauties on the feeding platform, and you may just get a kiss!

Shaba Special

Drive north out of the city to Shaba National Reserve, home to the "Special 5," a collection of unique animals, including Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx, and gerenuk. Start your safari adventure with an afternoon game drive. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - NATURAL WONDERS: Listen for a symphony of bird calls at the Shaba National Reserve. More than 400 recorded species including the vibrant vulturine guinea fowl and gray crowned crane reside in Shaba. Look low for the Kori bustard, the largest flying bird native to Africa.

Arid Awakening

Morning and afternoon game drives plus free time at your lodge. Due to the dry climate, the grasses are sparse, making animals easier to spot. The Ewaso Ng'iro River borders the reserve, providing a year-round water supply. These two factors make for a great game viewing experience! Sundowner drinks in the bush are served prior to returning to your lodge for dinner. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - SUNDOWNER DRINKS: This evening, enjoy the legendary tradition of safaris with a memorable happy hour in the bush, complete with sunset views over the Ewaso Ng'iro River!

Wonderful Weavers & Wildlife Sanctuaries

Depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. En route, stop at Nanyuki Spinners and Weavers, a project aimed at building sustainable livelihoods for local women through social and economic activities. After lunch, visit the Sweetwaters Chimp Sanctuary, then set out for an afternoon game drive. (B/L/D)

LOCAL FAVOURITE - CONSERVATION HEROES: Learn more about the plight of chimpanzees during a visit to Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. In partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Jane Goodall Institute, the sanctuary offers a long-term home to orphaned and abused chimpanzees-a moving example of wildlife conservation for future generations.

ACCOMMODATION SPOTLIGHT - INTO THE WILD: A guest Favourite, Sweetwaters Serena Camp is in the heart of the conservancy with magnificent views of Mount Kenya. Globus guests enjoy tents situated directly in front of the floodlit waterhole where wildlife comes to drink day and night from a vantage point directly from your private verandah!

Natural Highs

Morning game drive in Ol Pejeta. Then, journey through the beautiful Kenyan highlands, one of the most fertile agricultural areas in all of Africa to Lake Nakuru National Park. Settle into your lodge prior to dinner and gaze at the lush landscape from your private patio or open-air lounge. (B/L/D)

At the Water's Edge

Your morning game drive includes an exclusive bush breakfast. Keep your eyes out for giraffe, impala, flamingo, striped hyena, and a variety of birdlife along the water's edge. Free time at your lodge before an afternoon game drive. (B/L/D)

LOCAL FAVOURITE - BREAKFAST IN THE BUSH: As part of your morning game drive, you'll be treated to this time-honoured safari experience in Africa's unmatched landscapes, reminiscent of Africa's early explorers. Sip mimosas as you revel in this memorable experience in the wild.

Jewel of Kenya

This morning, depart for Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya's most famous game area. "The Mara," as it is called by locals, is part of the Serengeti ecosystem and boasts a strong permanent population of game. When the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra arrives, typically from August to early November, their population grows by almost 2 million, providing a bountiful food source for predators such as lions, cheetah, leopard, and hyena. After lunch at your lodge, set out on an afternoon game drive. (B/L/D)

Magical Mara

Morning and afternoon game drives plus free time to relax at your camp. Be sure to watch for elephant, rhino, giraffe, topi, hyena, and much more. Tonight, a farewell dinner in the bush features a traditional Maasai dance performance. (B/L/D)

LOCAL FAVOURITE - CULTURAL GEMS: The Maasai people bring a history of rich culture tied to this wilderness known as the Cradle of Life. Your special farewell dinner in the bush includes a traditional Maasai dance performance celebrating an ancient culture amid the majestic wildlife who find sanctuary here. The perfect ending to a spectacular safari adventure!

In the Shadows of "Kili"

After breakfast, fly to Amboseli National Park (via Nairobi). Arrive in Amboseli, known for spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro or "Kili" as the locals call it - the highest mountain in Africa. Embark on an afternoon game drive before settling in at your lodge. (B/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - EPIC SIGHTS: While exploring Amboseli National Park, witness the commanding presence of Africa's highest mountain. A dormant volcano, Mount Kilimanjaro stands high above the plains, offering majestic views above all those it surveys.

Adventure in Amboseli

Morning and afternoon game drives today in Amboseli National Park. The mighty African elephant is a consistent star in the wildlife show, and you may also spot Cape buffalo, zebra, wild dogs, and more. (B/L/D)

LOCAL FAVOURITE - NATURAL WONDERS: Two clear springs in the park are replenished by volcanic-rock filtered water from Mount Kilimanjaro's ice caps, creating watering holes for a variety of animals including the large herds of resident African elephants.

Return to Nairobi where a day room is reserved for your convenience. Schedule departing flights after 5 pm. (B)
